all the ones listed except viper are the "crappy" versions. It's CHEAPER for a reason.
Another brand like those is avital....the range cannot compare to my viper 550ESP and they have similar functions. So yea...you get what you pay for unless you got a nice employee discount ....Clifford Matrix RS3 fro 150 bucks.
Those brands are ALL the same and the internal components are IDENTICAL. They just market the different brands to different retailers, etc.
I work at Circuit City as an install tech and we used to carry DEI. Its very good stuff. Valet tends to be just basic stuff like remote start or keyless entry or VERY basic alarm systems. Other than that, its all the same, and they have different packaging. You will notice that of these brands that DEI makes there will be very similar model numbers with identical features....all the same guts.

I just found out today that Circuit City will be dropping CodeAlarm (because they are garbage) and picking back up DEI......THANK GOD!

i work in the roadshop too in ATL.
My assistant manager got an email from corporate yesterday about it.
They are saying that DEI will start rolling back in as soon we get rid of all of our CodeAlarm junk.

Do you guys know what brands you guys are going to get from DEI? As far as I know, we're (BB) keeping the same Viper stuff until July. After that, I dunno.

I just went to work today and found out we'll be taking on PYTHON. You guys are dropping DEI? wow, thats a surprised but i cant wait so i can get some eployee discounts on the responder stuff
Nah, we're not dropping DEI. That'd be crazy, but the current models expire in July. No word yet on what new models we'll have or which DEI brand they'll be. (seems to alternate between Viper & Clifford) The new DEI stuff should be pretty cool, with TONS of on board capabilities now... ie: shock sensor that's remote adjustable (with visual display of shock sensor setting on the LCD remotes), on board door lock relays, on board dome light relay, on board starter kill relay, two sensor ports, etc.

whoaa are you serious? Should i wait till the new models come out then cause i just got a 791xv?
After we took on the CodeAlarm models, i HAVE noticed that the VIPER responder models didnt have some of the features that Code Alarm did. ONe thing that comes to mind is that Code Alarm had on-board temperature sensors taht could be retrieved and displayed on teh remote LCD.
I guess it was no surprise the the cost of the CODE ALARM systems were dropping considerably since they came out.
Sad thing is we are also ridding ourselves of alpine We have stop carrying alpine since jan 2005 and ALPINE is one of our best manufactors for car audio
Well I have a Clifford Matrix RSX 3.5 which is basically the same alarm as yours. (besides the different remote covers and different antenna) I don't really see any reason to ditch mine for the new ones. They are supposedly a total redesign, and there's not too much info out as of yet. I want to see what the new remotes look like, with the program button on the back. I think they intro'd the new stuff at CES and it's barely starting to filter through to the websites. Here's a little blurb from Clifford's site....
Clifford Matrix 10.5X 2-Way Security System with Responder Technology
6-channel 2-Way security/keyless entry system
Confirms commands and system triggers on the transceiver LCD screen
Code Clone-Safe® Code-Hopping®
On-board Door Lock Relays
Parking Light Flash
Failsafe® Starter Kill – On-board Relay
Remote Adjustable Dual Zone Shock Sensor
Six-Tone Siren
Super Bright LED System Status Indicator
Dome Light Supervision – On-board Relay
Retained Accessory Power
Comfort Closure
5 Auxiliary Outputs
Horn Honk
Includes One 2-way Responder Transceiver and One 4-button Transmitter
Sounds cool right? They should be a ton easier to install on cars and have a touch more coolnes factor for the customer/owner. Supposedly DEI is also releasing some new/better bypass modules too.
Yeah we started carrying Alpine the first week of February. The CDA-9847 is selling like hot cakes! The first wave of product we got is mostly entry level/mid level decks & speakers. (we did get the type-r components already though) The second wave (probably April'ish) will be better things... Type-R subs, V12 amps, IVA-D301 video & some other stuff.
