Component recommendations ~$250

I am having a really hard time picking out speakers. Been doing a lot of research and just can't decide. I listen to all types a music so I need speakers that are pretty well rounded.

I have personally listened to Diamond Audio and MB quartz. To me the Diamond audio sounds a bit bright. Where as the MB didn't, I listened them in two different places, so it might not be an accurate comparison. Both were acceptable, but wondering if there are better in the 250-300 price range.

Can anyone give any recomendations for the following?
koda, image dynamics, CDT, Rainbow, Dynaudio

i did a search recently as well, and the price you specified knocks a lot of the selections out of the race. You also need to consider the depth of the speakers, if you don't plan on making any adjustments, 2.25~2.5" is max depth. You can cut out your speaker basket, or make spacers for adjustment to accomodate deeper speakers.

I personally liked my Kenwood Excelon 6.5" components, so I went with them again. I got them for ~225$ (325-retail). The response and quality is very good IMO.

I'm sure everyone is going to jump on and push for Kodas and other TopShelf stuff, but again, pri$e has final say.

oh yeah, you should list what kind of amp and head unit you have, so people can give better advice.

I have a pair of CDT Classics and like them a lot. I'm even considering upgrading to HD's in the near future. I've owned both an Image Dynamics subwoofer and a pair of their mids, and was quite impressed by both.

I am going to do a complete system overhaul, so the head unit and amp I will get to match as well. I want to start with good sounding speakers first and work my way from there.

As for the pricing some of those speakers would not be in the range, but i was using ebay pricing as an estimate, i know if i get the speakers from authorized dealers it would be well into the 500-600 range easily

Yeah - those off-color CL-61's they've got for like $150 are a steal. I've been eyeing them for a while now . . . .

Similar to what I have in my car, I absolutely love them, if they can be had for the right price.

And no, they aren't mine, just did a search for the heck of it.

I've seen the ones on Zeb before. It is a great price, but the tweeters are 3/4" Would it affect SQ that much over a 1"?

Anyone had any experience with the CDT EF series, are they noticiably better than the CL?

Have you had a chance to hear the Alpine SPX-177r component set yet?
http://www.ikesound.com/product-product_id/2171

They have been getting some great praise on the www.elitecaraudioforum.com for their sound quality. One of the reason they have been so popular is the drivers used in the component set were actually made by Vifa/Scan Speak( one of the top home audio driver makers).
If you have a chance to listen to them, they are worth considering, especially for the price.

A friend of mine ordered a set over a year after I did, and they said they were backordered . . . which is wierd, because they are supposedly factory blemish sets. But he got a set a few days later, as promised.
