Cold Weather and MP3 CDs

I am starting to notice that my cd deck (Eclipse CD8454) does not like to read MP3 CDs during cold weather. When I leave the car for a period of time and return, the unit will not recognize the CD. I eject it, reinsert it, and 97% of the time it will recognize the CD and play. The remainder 3% includes not recognizing it ever or takes a few ejections before being able to play.

Regular CDs play fine after sitting in the deck during the cold.

I have had the unit for at least 2 years (maybe 3). I didn't notice this behaviour before this winter. It may have happened every once in a while but not 100% of the time like this past winter.

These symptons do not apply during warm or hot weather.

Those in cold climates, have you noticed anything similar to this? I just want to diagnose this as either being a laser head problem or "electronics don't like the cold weather" (which they don't) problem.

behaviour, colour, grey...

bah! I will spell the word however I please damn it!

And no, its not time for a new one just yet...not for my broke ass anyways. And I still don't like the new Eclipse designs. The series that I have will probably be the only style I like.
