I am thinking about getting this for my car. Is this unit any good? How does it compare to the other units out there? Also, will a separate TV tuner be needed in order to watch television?

It's a good unit, but has a smaller screen than most others on the market. You will need a separate tuner in order to watch TV. Clarion also sells them. The HU can control just about everything.

I have seen this unit go for $650. Is this a good price? What other units are comparable to this one, but in the same price range?

no, it can control a clarion tuner, but does not come with one. You need TTX7501z for the tuner. http://www.clarionmultimedia.com/Mul.../ttx7501z.html

I got the same unit few days ago.... it has a TV tuner Built-In. The only thing that is missing is the Antenna. The TTX7501Z Clarion tuner is a Ce-net based. TXV5653 is not Ce-net compatible.

The unit has 2 inputs.. one on the front, and one in the back of the unit. In order to use the 2nd input(AV, in the back) you will need to order a special media expension cable CCA-389.

NO YOU DON"T NEED ADDITIONAL TV TUNER FOR THIS UNIT!!!!

I am planning on getting the TVX5653. How does this hook up to allow sound to come through the speakers in the car? Also, this hooks up to allow a PSX to be played on it, right? If so, how?

THANKS

I have't got time to install the unit yet.

The unit is basically a slave unit which means needs to work with some other HU. The sound is input to your current HU via FM (88.3...). Playstation, VCR, DVD can be connecetd (total of 2) by using expension ($60) cable for the rear input. Mini phone jack (AV) for the front input.

TV unit has additional Video out for connecting to another monitor.

Sorry for my ignorance, but how are you supposed to make sound come out of the speakers using FM? What kind of connection's am I supposed to make? Will this work with any existing head unit or will I need to get an aftermarket HU? My current HU is the stock Integra CD player. What connections do I have to make in order for this to work?

Also, to get a Playstation to work, a separate cable is needed?
THANKS

ok, i just got it installed today and it's a nice unit. you get sound to play through the built in fm modulator which plays on 88.3 FM. if you have some extra money, getting the antenae could be a wise choice. i'm getting ok signal when i'm stopped, but while driving you can see the tv ok, but the signal isn't as strong...yeah, you can by pass the parking brake option so you can have the tv working for the passangers to hook up a psx or vcr or dvd you need to get some jacks to fit headphone slots and well you need a convertor to power the extra stuff and you're all set. IMO, for 700 it's a good unit to buy if you already have a radio and stuff, but seriously how much will you need a tv in the car?

fm modulators were made to integrate auxiliary audio into any car stereo system, factory or aftermarket. the modulator is a simple device that you plug inline between the antenna and the radio. the modulator is preset to play audio through a certain set of frequencies. usually these frequencies do not have any radio stations associated with it, therefore no conflict. you set that frequency on the modulator as well as on the headunit's preset. so instead of capturing a radio broadcast, you will hear the audio connected to the modulator. ever see fm modulated changers? these work by this principle and therefore, are known to be universal. if the modulator accepts many inputs, then you can hook up that many aux sources. if not, you might have to split them using y-cables to hook up more than 1 device.
