Cadence CVL 6x9 Midbass driver

Will the Cadence CVL 6x9 Midbass Driver fit in the stock location on a 5th gen without any modifications? I know there are some rods under the trunck used to keep it open that run under the speakers, and this speaker has a mounting depth of 4 3/4 inches. Does it matter if they rub? Is there a work around?

I bet these would sound sweet. I currently run 160W RMS to the stock rear speakers (low passed at around 120Hz), but those sound like shize (although I have to admit, I'm impressed that I haven't blown them yet). Since I don't want any high frequencies from the rear, I'm thinking a dedicated midbass driver would be ideal for me. But will the darned things fit?

Ok, I decided to just go ahead and buy the damn things. Turns out these things are HUGE!!! Check out the photos:

As you can see, these things are pretty heavy duty. Problem is I can't get them in. I tried to just drop them in from on top, but they're way too tall, I'd need to remove the rear windshield to do that. That's not gonna happen. The only real option is to get them in from underneath, but the overall frame of the speaker is just so damn wide. I can get three corners through but it then gets stuck. I'm thinking I'll need to widen the hole and/or grind down on the speaker itself (not the magnets, the metal frame that holds them). I don't like doing either. Any suggestions? I probably won't have time to tackle this until next week so I'm trying to come up with a good plan to get these in with minimal destruction.

Yeah, it's not gonna be fun. I'm getting my car back next week, so I plan to put those in asap. I will report back when it's all complete. Hope they're worth the effort!

I finally got some time to install these. It turns out you can install them by sliding in them in from up top, but you gotta remove the everything from the rear deck down to the bare metal. I had used an acoustic dampener (brown bread) which made it difficult so I scraped some off. Anyway, I got them in place but they don't sit well - the screw holes don't line up and there's gaps between the speaker and the rear deck. Also the trunk tension bars that keep your trunk open do hit them when you close the trunk, but I can still close the trunk. Bit of a pain in the ass!

Anyway, haven't had a chance to listen to them yet and they probably won't sound like much unless they are properly fitted.
