Broken remote

My avital remote is broken and I can't unarm my car, meaning I can't get into it without the alarm going off or even drive it if I even got into it. I need a temporary solution if you guys have one.

Also if you guys have any inexpensive replacements please let me know. This car alarm is almost 10 years old and the remote when working only works from about 10 feet away.

There was a guy selling an alarm called Autodoodad(sp), any thoughts on that system?

Try to find the manual if you have it and find a way to manually disarm the alarm

Get the FCC number on the back of the remote and search e-bay or google.
I have been able to find many remotes by searching websites that google found.

Whats broke about it? Button? Battery?
When I bought my Lude the previous owner gave me a remote and said the alarm did not work. Long story short, I put a battery in the remote and had a button replaced on it for 10 bucks and now I have a remote. So fixing your remote might be an option.

The case itself is broken and the little red light that was inside is broken too. It used to light up when I clicked the buttons but I dropped my skateboard on it and it broke. It doesn't light up anymore but if I put pressure on it in a certain direction I guess the connection works and the remote begins to work.

Now the remote just doesn't work because I guess theres no more current running through the little red light. My brothers room mate was going to try and find the loose connection and solder it back together but they are moving out of their appartment this weekend and have no time. My car is downtown in a meter spot which is why this is pretty urgent.

I think the design of the remote is just plain stupid and the case is made of weak plastic. Also the case is two pieces, one on top and one on bottem with nothing inbetween to help it seal. So when the conditions outside are wet the remote sometimes doesn't work.

Sorry for the long post but I just wanted to explain everything.

I was going to post a picture of the remote but my damn camera is in my car which I of course can't get into. Ironies a b!tch...

I tried calling Avitals 1800 number and all that happens is that the phone picks up and then hangs up. My parent's can't find the manual that's burried in my room somewhere (I'm at school for the summer). There are no numbers on the back of the remote but on the inside on top of the chip theres a series of letters and numbers and google found nothing related to it.

Just disconnect your brain to your alarm, and you should be fine. I've had to do this with my alarm before, in the past when I accidently jumpped into a pool with my keys in my pocket. As for getting a new remote, you can usually find them on ebay for sale. I bought 2 new ones on there for pretty cheap....
