Audiobahn Sub Tube.. no working.

I didnt bother filling out the registration card.. since I never had a car audio problem severe enough.

So yesterday I was rewiring my Sirius unit to the trunk... and decided to clean up the rest of the wires that were buried under the rear seats with a few wire looms, etc.

Out come the seats.. see some damage to my RCA's as posted in another thread - but I always had bass.

zip up everything nice and neat.. fire everything back up... NO BASS!

I check power to my AudioBahn Sub Tube that has a AMP on it.. has power.. all is good.

I then check my remote bass controller knob.. powered Put in a bass heavy song... 6x9 etc are rockin.. bass tube sounds muffled.
I checked all fuses too.

So now Im clueless... how the hell can it just decide to die like that?

I didnt even touch any settings.. it was just wire looms as mentioned before.. now I got to re-check my work etc.. anything to watch out for?

watch for a cut in the wire, its possible the wire is grounded now or something. My 12 inch audiobahn subs have been pounding hard for 2 years and still going. I just took them out recently as my engine got built - saved me 300 lbs

if you have a multimeter, power the amp and touch the + and GND terminals of the amp to sub's and make sure power is going to the subs. you can also test the other end and make sure the power is going thru the wire.

Sounds like your RCA's to the tube/amp are probably shorting now. I know it sounds dumb, but also doublecheck that you didn't pull the rca's loose or out when you were wrapping them. (if you haven't checked that already) It's probably nothing serious. You can also pull the deck and make sure the rca's are snug there too.

I just read that other thread. You probably want to just go ahead and replace the cables completely, if the insulation has melted.

Use that multimeter on the RCAs at the connection to the sub amp, see what you get there.

today I rechecked the length of the RCA going to the sub... it was very clean and in good shape... I also checked the wires going to the remote bass control knob system.. all is fine.
I check all my grounds, power, remote.. all fine.

I fire up the system.. no bass.

I wiggle the wire to the remote bass control knob... and the bass fires off about 6 loud thumps and then dies. so I suspect that this remote thing is messed up?

Recheck connections again... all look fine. Again, 6 loud thumps and it dies. also loud scratch sounds when I adjust the gain from this remote.

So I decide to control the bass by the headunit.. hook up the RCA to my headunits sub rca inputs... detach the remote bass control unit... fire it up... I barely hear bass from it.
(tried it with it inplace as well.. no change in performance.)

I check my cut off points, give it ample juice ... barely any bass.

Right, now I ripped the whole bass system out of the car. I dont know what else to do but start from scratch and either re-install next week... or chuck it in the trash.

any suggestions?
