I have used the FAQ' and the forums rules, and even tried to use some of the helpful links. However I still feel overwhelmed when looking for amps. I am looking for either 1 five channel amp or 2 four channel amps (maybe 1 four and 1 two channel). I do not need huge amounts of power, just something to help out. A friend said if I could find a good, old and reliable amp that made 25 watts x 2 or 25 watts x 4 that those should be more than enough for me. As most everyone is I am on a budget. I really do not want to spend more than $300 on the amp(s). Does anyone have any suggestions on good, nicely priced amps? There seems to be so many companies out there, that you do not know which ones are junk, which ones are good, which ones are over priced because of a name.
do you have a 5.1 speaker set up in your car? well, alpine makes some pretty nice amps (esspecially the new PDX series but those are very expensive). I would take a look at their website.
then why not just get a 4 channel amp? most car setups are 4 channels (4 speakers) unless you have a sub. In that case, you get a 4 channel amp plus a mono (1 channel) amp.
i was not looking for a 5.1 sorround sound amp. i was looking for a 5 channel amp so i could run tweeters on 2 channels, mids on 2 channels and then have 1 channel for bass.
thats the game plan anyway. i know that the tweeters also have crossovers, so you could run your mids and tweeters on 2 channels, but I want to break it down a little bit. this new system i am putting in is an experiment. we will see.
If you're going to run the front components active, off of a 4ch amp, you might as well ditch the rears. Run them off of deck power. I'd recomend a 4ch to run the fronts active and a small 2ch or mono if you're going to run a sub as well. What speakers are you running anyways? Do you know the power requirements?

Seas 27TDFC/G (H1410) 1" textile dome tweeter with wide polymer surround and protective grill. This is the very popular H1189 tweeter, but with a grill. The voice coil is ferrofluid cooled for higher power handling. The fabric dome is pre-coated for greater consistency. The dome and wide surround give excellent stability against variations in air humidity. The voice coil wire is wound on an aluminum voice coil former, with adequate ventilating holes to eliminate air flow noise. A stiff and stable rear chamber are employed to allow for a lower resonance frequency. The chassis is precision molded, glass reinforced plastic, designed for optimium radiation.
6 ohm impedance
Frequency range 2000Hz to 25000Hz
Power 90W
Sensitivity 91 dB
Resonance frequency 550Hz
Voice Coil diameter 26mm
Re 4.8 ohm
Le 0.05mH
Bl 3.5
Mms 0.37g
Sd 7.5 cm2
Alright, that helps some. But to try to fit your goal of being around $300 for all amps, we also need to know what you're going to run as a sub, and its' power requirement.
