amp not working
Hey everyone,
I just installed my new amp on my 99 prelude with a stock headunit and new 6x9's. However, I ran into a problem as I finished hooking up all the wires. The amp doesn't want to power up.
I bought the car used, and the previous owner must have had a system installed before. In the spare tire well I found a mass of jumbled wires that were used for amp and subs I guess. The ground was still attached, and the remote turn on wire was still connected to the back of the headunit. I checked them. They left a power wire, but cut and pulled back to the trunk. A friend and I rewired the power back to the battery, put on a new connector, put a fuse on it, and attached it to the positive battery terminal.
I found wires spliced from the 6x9 speaker lines. It led to a input/adjustable output converter with RCA output lines. I used that line into the CH 1/2 of my 4 channel amp. I am not bridging yet because I don't have y-splitters to split the RCA signals into two, one for channels 1/2 and another for channels 3/4. I double checked all connections and I went to try it out. To my surprise, the amp did not turn on and speakers had no sound. Any ideas on what to look for? It could be a faulty amp, I will swap my friend's amp into my setup and he will use my amp to see if mine works.
