Amp for 2 Kicker L7's.

Hi all, I'm about to go onto my second sound system. I'm going to be buying 2 Kicker L7 12s (4ohm) soon for pretty cheap. My only problem is that I don't know which amp to go with as I am going to want to wire them up to 1ohm.

I was looking at getting this amp:Hifonics Brutus BRZ 1700.1D Class D Monoblock Car Amplifier

or this amp: Hifonics Brutus BRZ1200.1D, BRZ 1200.1D Class D Car Amplifier/Amp

I'm a little apprehensive because of the fuse rating on the amps, which are 140amps for the 1200watt amp and 160 for the 1700 watt amp. I don't know if my alternator is going to struggle to push out that watts. Another thing is the 1700 watt amp takes 2awg while the 1200 takes only 4awg which is a little too small for my liking.

If anyone has any tips, I'd appreciate it.

That's an awful lot of bass for a small car....It's going to be a PITA to get a big enough enclosure to fit.

Personally I'm not a fan of L7's. They will distort pretty bad, no matter what amp you get. They are loud subs but SQ isn't very good. If you are just going for SPL, more power = better.

You will also need LOTS of dynamat if you don't want errrythang to rattle like a mofo.

I was waiting for you to chime in man. And yeah, if I had the choice I'd get one W7 13.5 or even 12 for that matter for as far as bass quality goes. I know that if I get the L7's then a lot of stuff is going to shake loose and it's gonna add another like 100lb to the car. I guess I just figured that'd i'd take advantage of the deal I'm getting, but ****, I wish you'd just stop talking me out of it but everything you've pointed out are valid points. -_____-
