All My speakers stopped working... NEEED HELP

So yesturday all my speakers stopped working. The driver side door speaker wasnt working previously and I was trying to fix it. So I started tracing wires under the steering wheel and heard what sounded like a short. kind of like a pop/spark noise. I did have some aftermarket door speakers in but thats all. The head unit powers on, but no speakers get power. Is there a stock amp in the car that could have gone bad, or is it possible that the head unit went bad. Thanks in advance.

First check all your fuses. There is an amp driving the rear speakers with the afbs in a 5th gen...but it's probably not related to your problem. With any luck you just blew a fuse, if not, you will have to search for the short or possibly replace your radio.

Where was this popping/short sound coming from? I have the same problem with my driver's side..

I checked EVERY fuse. I am thinking I need to replace the wiring since I tried different head units and the same problem remained, and ran a wire from the harness to the speaker direct and it worked..

I checked all my fuses, the shorting out sound came from the wire box in the drivers side footwell place.

That my friend would be the fuse box....Did you check both the under hood and the interior fuse box? Do any of the wires up under the dash looked frayed or melted? Since the radio turns on it is still getting power and the problem may be with the radio itself. I don't know if the radio has a fuse on the back or not like an aftermarket one does, but I doubt it. Somebody here would know...

Easiest route from there if it really isn't a fuse would be to pull the radio, splice in another wire and hook it up to whatever speakers you have laying around to see if the wiring or the head unit is the problem.

It's easier to splice in a foot of new wire to check the radio than trying to trace the old wires all the way back to the radio....

So I hooked up my head unit to another prelude and it worked, so thats not it. So I guess its a wiring issue, anyone know why it would just stop like it did??? I plugged up the other preludes head unit to mine and it did the same thing. It turned on but wouldnt play music.
