8" sub 35w rms 175w peak?? will i blow them?

hi,

new prelude owner, keeping the lude in storage over winter, but slowley buying parts for her now trying to re-use as much as i can from what i have first thouhg

i have a sony 600w 2ch amp powering my 12 (bridged at 250w) per channel its only 100rms!! which is ****. i dont want to put the 12 in the lude as the box is really heavy! /big, may not fit

i have a set of 8" subs

they are by Roadmasterusa ? never heard of them, but these cost me $15 with a box lol

the specs on the speakers are

•8" “Kevlar Look” Polypropylene Cone
• 18 oz. Magnet
• Grey Foam Rubber Surround
• 175 Watts Instaneous Peak Power
• 35 Watts RMS
•45 to 2000 Hz Frequency Response
• 1.5" ASV, Voice Coil
• Impedance 4 Ohms +/- 15%
• Sensitivity 87db 1W/1M Minimum
• Spring Loaded Push Button Terminals

175w peak? and only 35rms? wtf? that sounds pretty bad,

1. my question is, would my amp 100w rms/channel blow these really quickly?

2. a 50x4 HU would be able to power these properly would it not? 50w peak should be 25rms on a good HU

1. Your amp would blow those... If you made the mistake of gaining your amp too high. It'd be your fault only if you blew them.

2. Do not run the subs off of the head unit, as you will not have independent sub control. As well, 25wRMS (if your radio puts that out) is less than 35wRMS. You already own an amp to power subs, so use it. Simple.

I say just install it and enjoy the little time you have with those cheap ass 8's. Grab a beer, turn it on, turn it up & then laugh your ass off at how long those little guys slap. Of course they're going to blow. (I'm not kidding about blowing them just for fun. $15 well spent.)

havent blown them yet,

go a new deck, Sony CDXGT610UI

deck has a AUDIO REAR OUT/SUB for RCA' s

instructions note that i am able to go straight to a speaker, or a sub doesnt have to be amp,

the specs on the deck are 23w RMS/channel, with sub control,

does the 23w still apply if i go RCA to sub? and would that be enough for at least one of the subs?

23w does not apply to RCA connections; those are low level ouputs meant to be connected to an amplifier and are not anywhere near 23w.
