4th Gen Radio Issues

Just picked up a 93 SI Prelude and absolutely love it. Problem is the radio, the front speakers are not working. I would have guessed at first that they were simply blown due to age, but after doing some more research it seems like these particular years have an issue with the wiring running to these speakers?
If I have to rewire them can I simply run them from the new speakers to the harness in the back of the aftermarket head unit or is there something special that I have to do?
Also with the tweaters do I need to do the same thing if I replace them as well? Run wires from the tweatersto the head unit, or if it's a component set I just run the wires from the tweaters and door speakers to the crossover, then a single set of wires to the head unit, is that the easiest, best way?
And lastly Crutchfield says there is no tweater that fits these cars, is that true? How hard is it to mount some up there?
Thanks alot for the help, sorry if I missed a detailed post on this somewhere.

First things first. It's pretty easy to throw in new wire, just figure out where the old wire is running to the back of the head unit and figure out which wires go to the + and - of each speaker and hook it up properly. If the speakers in there are a component set then yea you'll just have to run wires from the tweeters (in the covers on either side of the gauge cluster) to the crossover. The covers come off pretty easily so you can check for tweeters. If the speakers are a full-range speaker then you don't have to run any extra wiring.

what he said^^

and for crutchfield saying there's no tweeters that fit in the car, I'm not sure about that, but I do know people who just put some that are 1''-1.5'' dome tweeters and just mount somehow. There's room back there behind the tweeter cover
