So i got pulled over for speeding and the cop also gives me a fix it ticket for my apexi catback exhaust..WTF?!!....He tells me when you modify your car to make it louder, its ILLEGAL. So now i need to go to court with the stock exhaust..problem is, i dont have that. So if anybody gots the stock exhaust for sale, please message me! I'll BUY...Thanks!
Where are you located? Most areas have an acceptable DB rating, etc. for exhausts, admittedly i've never heard of anywhere where it's illegal to make more noise than stock. You know, the cop being wrong is a pretty good defense too (and puts the speeding into question) may be worth looking up local laws along with looking for a stock exhaust.
I live up in Northern California, and yea i am thinking of looking up the laws. I think the cop gots something against hondas cuz as soon as he walked up to my window, he immediately asked me what i had under the hood...lol...I got headers and cold air intake but its all carb legal..yea i just dont see how my catback exhaust is illegal..my car is quiet as hell!..lol....
After my recent encounter with the law, i've decided cops just hate people driving on the road, but thats a story for another time. (Disclaimer, there are some awesome cops out there, and there are some phenominally terrible cops out there. It's easier to stay out of trouble if you just assume ALL of them are against you and weed the good ones back in as you go) NorCal used to be pretty laid back (i'm from SoCal originally), but I don't know what it's like now. I would definitely check the law. A buddy of mine is a cop (we call him good cop) and he explained all the shady stuff that goes on at the department. Your fix it ticket could be your officers key to a promotion. If nothing else, it's worth the 20 minutes spent on a google search. None of this is meant to offend any officers who are on here, but rather to encourage knowing more about local laws to protect your own rights.
