does this connect to the pipe under the intake that the usdm one uses?

Yes, the JDM Honda Prelude Type S intake sits on top of the air filter, that sits on top of the stock bottom portion of the intake resonator/ box. Please keep in mind that the Type S intake, DOES NOT come with the stock bottom portion of the intake resonator/ box.

Let me clarify, as there is a difference between the stock bottom portion of the intake box and the resonator.


So...

- Type S intake on top of the air filter
- Air filter on top of the bottom portion of the stock intake box
- Bottom portion of the stock intake box is connected to the resonator (which is a separate unit from the intake box) behind the bumper.

So, using he stock resonator, is optional.

Hope this clears it up.
