JDM Honda Access Suspension
I'm back in CA, and these are on the shelf and ready to ship! I'd like to sell them this week, so I've cut the price and thrown in shipping to the lower 48.
For sale is a Honda Access sport suspension kit for the base model fifth generation Prelude, with JDM upper-mounts.
Used for approximately 20,000 miles. Good condition - no scratches on the damper rods, no fluid leaks, west-coast driven, all dampers are still strong and functional.
This is a fantastic daily-driver suspension; it will drop your car about 1.25 inches all around, with a modest increase in stiffness to improve handling without compromising ride. This is as close to a "factory sport suspension" as you will find for the Prelude. It's quiet and noticeably tighter, without delivering a punishing ride on the street. I've had a range of suspension on my car, and this is by far the best ride/handling setups I've found.
I'm selling the kit because my car is no longer a daily-driver - I've installed something stiffer for weekend use.
Note that the JDM upper mounts are included - these are nearly identical to the USDM mounts, but the fronts include two extra mounting lugs for mounting a Type-S or Spoon front strut bar. I have performed the shock-knock fix on both rear mounts, using the shorted Honda collars as called for in the shock-knock TSB.
This suspension is completely assembled and ready to drop in - since upper mounts are included, you will not need a spring compressor to install this suspension: It's a basic bolt-in swap, without the usual need to disassemble the damper assembly.
Some background: This is essentially Mugen suspension for the base model - both kits use Showa dampers, and both offer mildly stiffened springs and a subtle drop. The Prelude Mugen suspension kit was designed only with the Type SH in mind, which has slightly different front suspension geometry - Honda Access offered two kits, one for the SH and one for the Base model to account for these differences. There's no reason these would not work on a Type SH or a fourth gen, but the only car that will have a predictable and even drop is the Base fifth gen.
The Honda Access kit was only marketed and sold in Japan.
