your technique to hold cams at TDC when doing a timing belt

what is your technique of holding the cams at TDC (since they dont sit there naturally)when installing a timing belt, by the way this is on a fifth gen so i do not have the luxary of 5mm pin punches to hold them down. I wonder why they did away with that

Mine would hold in place by themselves until I started installing the belt. Then I would use one hand on the cam gear, and one hand on the belt.

It's possible. Not fun, but it's possible to do with one person.

Just make sure you keep tension on the timing belt, and turn the exhaust cam when you turn the crank pulley to fully seat the belt. Otherwise the belt will skip a tooth everytime you try to put full tension on the belt (after you remove the special tool from the autotensioner).
