Yet another q about the Hondata IM Gasket.

I've been reading mixed replies through searches here and on HT. Is it required to have the EGR valve blocked off for this gasket to do its cooling? If it is, I'd rather drill a hole in the gasket where it blocks off the EGR valve at the IM and just block off the egr valve itself from the top portion of it next to/behind the valve cover area... does that make sense? So if i'll ever need the egr active I won't need to pull out the IM again just to unplug the hole.

so does this make sense? or is it not necessary.

You don't need to modify the gasket. They now have an egr hole.

EDIT: the egr will eat thru the gasket anyway, so as marccuci said it will make a hole for itself in a few minutes.

ohhh okay... so all that hooplah about needing to block off the egr is nonsense then... or should I block it off from the top?

This is a different disscusion that should help you understand the reason you want to leave the EGR unless you have a race car.
