Over all pretty clean car, drives well, average inretior, owner seems honest and cool. I need it for a daily driver that will be driven 5-9K miles max per year. I know these cars very well and can fix little things that come up, only things like rod bearings scare me away. Blue book for private party sale is $7700 so he is asking high but the car seems perfect for what I want out of a Prelude. The exta $ above book I would end up spending on the car myself in the near future as I have to mod my cars so . . .What do you think I should do?
JDM fogs cost $300-350 and he could easily part that off
OEM lip kit he could part off for $700
S2k retrofit - $600 + trade of headlights
18" Roja's - $1500 w/ tires?
DVD-Nav - $1500
Leather seats - $500? + trade of seats
So sure he could put it back to stock and sell for $6,000 or $7,000 and he'd make a ton of more money that way. But for $8k with all I just listed + Koni/H&R, remote start, recent maintainance and a new clutch, I think is a great deal. Especially if the car is in good condition.
high miles are nothing for a Prelude if it's well-kept. Judging by the miles, it's probably mostly highway miles. My other BB6 had 265k miles when I sold it and ran great.
If the car hasn't had any accidents and if the motor is making good compression I don't see a problem with it. My local dealership had a Honda civic with 400,000+ miles that still ran just fine on the original engine and transmission. A don't see why a Prelude can't last 300k if it isn't driven hard all the time.
With those mods it sounds like a great deal, because what Lude owner wouldn't want most of those parts anyway?

He wouldn't take $7650 even, he isn't willing to take a hit on all the mods I'm guessing. But the recent maintenance and new tires it still may be worth the $300 above kbb value. The car does book at $8175 on Nada. I still want to buy it.
Agree with scott. seems like a decent price for all the mods. Lets just say you buy it for 6k youl probably dump more money into those parts that are already on the car. So i say its a good deal. Can i have the roja? thanks

$6,000 is a serious low ball especially with all those parts. Just cause a car has some miles on it, doesn't mean it's worth as little as used chewing gum. Mileage is but a number, condition/documentation is what counts.

+1
Check compression, and for accidents, if you clear that. Id say you are go on the deal. I think the only thing you may find yourself replacing in the future are some of the suspension components (ball joints, control arms, etc) at that mileage I imagine some of that may be begining to go bad. See if he has had any of those items replaced.

deffinitely good deal and looks good i paid $5600 with no mods and 147K on mine, post a pic of the front wanna see the S2k retrofit!!!....ohh and congrats
I am very impressed with the car's shape with the miles on it, boy Hondas hold up well!
True that! After driving my SMR BB6 for a couple thousand miles, I now am a full believer that mileage can be but a number, for nothing more than reference. Had 260k+ miles on it and drove and felt like it had 60k miles on it... Hell, I even autocrossed it once, with no problems whatsoever... I should have kept the dang car...
