I need some help identifying a whining noise coming from the front. This started a few months ago. I did a search, but couldn't find any answers.
The noise only happens when it is drawing electrical power like turning on the AC or headlights. If I turn those off, the noise goes away. The whine gets louder as the RPMs increase. I have disconnected all stereo equipment. Radio is off when i hear this noise. Anyone know what might be the problem?
I finally got around to testing my alternator. The results came that that I was pulling around 80 Amps. Is the stock 5th gen 90-100A ish? Also voltage was around 12.5v @ 2000rpms. Normal is 14V?
Seems like it's on the way out? Also i am running the battery in the trunk would this have any effect making the alternator running harder than normal?

You voltage output should be around 14.5 volts, as far as amperage I am not sure. Sounds to me like your alternator needs some butter because that **** is toast.
