while my valve cover is removed...

What All should I be doing?

I took it off so I could adjust my valves, but while its off is there anything else I should be doing?

Also, what can I use to adjust my valves? I have offset (bent) feeler gauges, and a socket I think will work. Isn't it just a socket, a screwdriver, and a feeler gauge?

did you order the valve cover gasket kit?

it replaces all the grommets/sparkplug o-ring thingies/valve cover gasket

not that expensive, but its about the only thing you can do just in case

you could also paint the VC !

Heres my plan so far

Get the valve cover off
Clean the underside (what should I clean it with?)
Adjust valves
Re-install Valve cover

If there isn't sludge on the other side (which I suspect, there won't be), there's no point in cleaning it.

Have you replaced the crappy oem cam seal?

(the one on the intake/distributor side, not the actual cam seals).

Nope, just one of the cam covers. Like I said - not the actual cam seals . . . just the crap plastic thingy that everyone calls a cam seal. There's a how-to in the FAQ section.

Its called the rear cylinder head seal and I think you only have to remove 2 or 4 bolts to get to it. It is worth the trouble because most people have or will have trouble with it eventually. I bought an aluminum one on ebay for 15 bucks.

I only bought the valve cover gasket and some hondabond HT and the cam seals. What other gaskets do I need? It has only been 10k miles since I removed my valve cover. Do the O-rings really need to be replaced?

Ya you probably should, oil will start seeping out around the cams. READ YOUR HELMS!

^lol amazingly, i don't have any leaks

you know reading the helms sometimes you skip some steps, and sometimes those words "replace" usually means, "clean off and put back on" for some of the non-engine parts

hm... i didnt use hondabond either. no problems here. hondabond is what exactly? gasket maker? and its used for valve cover gasket replacement or cam seals?

and about the rear cyclinder head seal, you got something off ebay for it? im a little confused cause usually when i think of seal, i think of rubber.
