What's the BEST bang for the buck for.....

The h23 motor? I'll eventually be going FI (turbo), but I want to see what I can get out of the motor itself first. I've considered regrinds, but I just can't decide if they're worth it. Should I say screw it, and save for the JDM h22, then turbo that, or what would you guys suggest?

i'm with aaron, also, if you are going FI, the JDM H22a will only make it worse for you with the high compression.

Yeah, I thought about the compression on the J-spec h22. I guess I'll turbo the h23. I have a setup in mind, I just have to find a reputable shop nearby that'll do quality work for me.

Also, let's look at CHEAPER options than a turbo. Like bolt-ons, motor mods, etc. What would be the best BANG?

i don't think there is much of a point wasting money on bolt-on if you're really planning on going turbo...but if you want cheaper options than turbo I'd say go with a nitrous system. I've got a few bolt-ons for my H23 (i/h/e/p/ign...) and that don't help all that much. Now i'm hoping to go with a turbo setup and most of these mods will be useless. I'd say decide what you want to do now so you don't waste money on something you'll change in the future. Just my opinion...

If your asking best bang of the buck, like your title says, its nitrous hands down.
But I'd say turbo and build what you have, I don't see a jdm swap worth turboing. But that might just be me

Oh, I do. I REALLY want to see my car be able to hang with vettes. It WILL happen. There's always other cars down the road. I'm a tuner for life, so I'll work on other cars in my lifetime.

So, you guys think I should get exhaust, then just make the car look nice, and set money aside for a buildup? No header, intake nothing? Oh man, that's part of the fun.

If you REALLY indeed are going to turbo...don't spend a dime. Go all out, go once.

it seems to me u might want to do some research before u got spend a boat load of $..u don';t need a header for a turbo

and for an exhaust: I would wait just b/c u want a straight through design, which isn't good for NA cars so before u get the turbo in your going to be slower than before

I am getting a deal from my St. Louis Street racing peeps.......$3200 custom build with a t3/t04e turbo race kit installed, it will be cheaper for me cause I am installing it myself, I learn more when I do it than when a shop does.......

oh and Andy's car is in the low 14's at 8 psi, I rode with him last night it pulls good.

Dude, trust me. I know the header is replaced when putting on a turbo kit. I was just saying, I get the normal I/H/E setup, then save, and when I have enough money, I'd get the turbo kit, and replace the header w/ the fmax manifold.

Jen, only low 14's? Is it because of traction? Do you know how much power he's making? That's a pretty good deal. I've got the hookup right now for anything cosmetically concerned. I'm getting a brand new Wings West big mouth front lip for 50 bucks (no joke.)

well it might be high 13's because he raced a friend of ours and he ran a 13.8's in warmer weather.....were estimating til he goes to the track....not to mention that his setup is still untuned and he still has his stock exhaust.

I am planning to try and put in a short ram from my work (autozone) and my stock header back on so that I can sell my DC header and my AEM CAI to make some more money.....also I think now I am just going put the turbo one myself with some friends trying to save money and learn the most that I can, I do better when its hands on than just reading material.

Oh yeah? When do you plan on selling that intake? I'll take it off your hands.

Tell him he should get exhaust. He'll notice a big difference then.
