What makes Vemon Cam gears diff. from A.E.M gears

Or any other cam gear manufacturer? Like jun or whatever

Is it the quality or what?? Or are they all the same?

its basically the material and design that sets one apart from the other.

some will use cast aluminum, others will use billet cnc machined steel. another will use lazer etched markings and others have them built into the casting.

you want a cam gear that is easy to adjust. meaning it has clear and precise markings, and fasteners that will hold adjustment without fail.

some have markings for adjustments of +/- 4 degrees. others have up to 6 degrees. it depends on your application.

also remember that when you deal with the bigger names...ie jun tola etc you get quality without a doubt. but you do pay for it.

good hunting

One thing I want to add B4 u begin to consider getting cam gears is what yr is ur Lude?

If u have a 97+, I suggest don't even bother w/gears since ur ECU is an OBDIII. Which means ur ECU learns of ur mods/alterations and over time will compensate and revert back to ur stock settings. The only way to cure this problem is to go for an after-mkt ECU or stand-alone system. Also there is a mod (on www.ntpog.org) where u can pretty much "reset" ur ECU each time u shut off the car. But I haven't heard enough feedback on this issue so I'll reserve my comments!

Hope this helps!

All of the Cam Gears that I have seen have +/- 10 deg. All marked 1 deg at a time. The bolts is for Piece of mind, unless you get the 1st gen AEM they do have a problem with slippage.

I have the STR's and they only have 3 bolts. No prohlems at all.

I have a 01 lude, and im aware of the obdlll. As 4 the ntpog wiring...im not sure if they fixed the picture on the website,a while back they had the wrong picture of the wromg wire to cut!Plus i don't wanna be cutting wires in my car My dad will have my(im seventeen) ass if he catches me.I'll just disconnect the battery before a premeditated race...as in legal drag racing or auto-x and maybe even some of that other kind of racing

As 4 the gears....i'll need them for the Crower cams!!! I might be able to get free dyno time, as my buddy's boss owns a dyno.

Just FYI, but there's no such thing as OBD 3. The 5th Gen ludes just have a different ECU with stronger OBD 2 compliance.

You guys/gals think there is any point to getting the gears if you don't got aftermarket cams? I don't think there will be too big of a gain to be added by just the gears alone, but I'm just asking anyways

93SRVMAN and I both have cam gears and got them dyno tuned. I have a 98SH and he has a 93VTEC. We both have stock cams and saw neglegible top end gains.

I've heard of good results when used with Type-S cams, though.

Your dad'll kill you for cutting a wire, but he doesn't care if you're changing the cams/gears? Sounds like my dad when I was 17 (if I'd had a decent car then, that is).
