What happens if you take off VAFC after initial setup?
I have VAFC2 that I wanna take off.
It wasn't tuned, just basic initial setup, low-hi setting changed to 5000k,
hi-low changed to 4700. throttle setting to 35, 50.
I was wondering, what would happen when I take it off.
Would original settings all come back and run as good as before,
or do I have to do something before?
The way that the VAFC works is that it lies to the ECU and the engine. It takes the manifold pressure signal and the VTEC signal and modifies how it sends it, (Pressure signal), or when it sends it, (VTEC signal). You must splice the stock harness wire back together again to return to stock. All of the splicing should have been done at or near the ECU.
i just installed mine, is it normal that vtec doesnt kicks in proprely ?? i think i lost some power here... i didn't touched the setting at all, anyone know how to tune it well ? ..im kinda newb to this..i need to know how it works
if you go to the apexi website, you can download the manuals, and it tells you how to adjust the settings...you can add or remove fuel by adjusting the pressure settings that the vafc communicates to the ecu. you can also adjust the vtec crossover point. if you do a search, you should find some good info on what kinda settings others have used.
btw..hwani.h22a if you are going to get rid of the VAFC2, let me know...

VAFC (version I) has a default vtec setting much higher than stock..I think its 6400..so unless you lower it to at least the factory engagement point, you will indeed lose power.
read the manual. it tells you step by step what to do prior to even turning the unit on. i got it from www.apexi.com it's pretty detailed. from sensors to cylinders. and vtec comtrol.

the vafc splices into certain wires... two to be exact. the air pressure signal and the vtec solenoid signal. if you disconnect it, you will have a CEL, no vtec, and very crappy gas mileage, if the car really runs great at all.
you will have to rewire the ecu to read those signals directly rather than sending them thru the vafc. the other wires, the vafc just reads off of so those are not such a big deal....they're not spliced...just tapped in.
..............................VAFC
throttle signal --------^--------ECU
hahaha....dunno if that makes sense or not. lol. hit me up on AIM...jrsbassplayr if you have more questions...i helped someone install theirs over the phone, so if you need help taking it off, shouldn't be a problem.
