ok so ive been lookin around for a lude lately, and i came across a white 99 lude with 95,500 miles on it, the guy sent me pictures, so i was wondering on how much you guys think this lude should be worth
Definitely a nice looking Prelude. Minor body stuff it appears. I would make sure the 90k service has been done (timing belt, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel filter etc). Bring it to a mechanic you trust if you don't know what to look for. In Boston, with the body damage on the door that looks like is there, and no problems, it would be worth about 7k. Good luck on your purchase!
Yep, check to see if he did the maintenance interval due at 90,000, otherwise if you have a place do it, it'll run you $600-$1,000.
In the chicagoland area, IL, a white stick prelude, with just under 100,000 miles are sold for 7-,10,000 avg being around 7,500-8,500 from what I've seen. At least, that's what the asking price tends to be.
^hard to say. I bet if you showed a local body shop the picture, they could help you out. Give you a best and worse case scenario. Then show him the estimate as evidence to lower price.
I would definitely work it down to 7500 or less. 8k is good price overall, but the door damage should lower that a bit.
One thing's for sure though, they're sharp dents/dings. Not too noticeable from certain angles but with places charges $50 for a quarter size circular non sharp dent to pull out, I'd say a couple $100. That will probably require bolts to be welded on to straighten it out and maybe some paint.
In regards to the body work. You don't want to just toss guesses at the seller. You have a chance of getting the work done for the guess price but more often than not you will be flipping a much bigger bill. Ask him if it is OK for you to take good pictures of the damage so you can get an estimate. Paper trails are a wonderful thing when haggling prices. If he didn't get the 90k done, get an estimate for that too. You should be able to get him down to 7k easy with that body work though.
