All those websites that sell H22 engines and various other engines, where do they get the engiens from? If they get them from cars themselves, exactly what do they do with these cars? My car was recently totalled

, but the engine survived

. I am looking for a cheap 4th gen prelude shell (94-96 preferably), and i am wonderin if these sites sell the cars they get their engines from, and if so, where can i get one? I am in the AZ/CA area if there is a place around here

They get them from overseas. something about japenese cars getting new engines after 30k miles, that is why they all have 30k miles on them. I'm not really that knowledgable about it, but that is wut i know.

So I am assuming there is little to no chance of getting a car here right? Oh well, thats kinda strange about the 30k miles on them, but hey, its good for ur. dohcpower, do you know if there is anywhere that i could possibly get a prelude with no engine then? We have a dealer's license, but even those preludes are a bit too pricey right now considering how the first one was ruined; we just dont have the cash to spend on another expensive car.

you can get them here for decent prices, its just about being int he right place at the right time.

No offense, but that is sorta vague. Where can you get it? I am not gonna like wander around the east coast lookin for a car! lol. And what do you mean the right place at the right time, do they go that quickly? Well, if you can please tell me what kind of places you are talking about, maybe there is something like that here or in Cali. Thanx for your help!

yeha, nowadays most DOHC VTEC motors that make it to the Junkyard get yanked as soon as they hit the lot. I know wwe have a followed some to the junkyard and still weren't on time to get them. Most of the time we just leave it to the pros and just order our motors from impoirt yards and importers. much easier and less time consuming.

I dont think you understood my question, i am not looking for the engine. I am looking for the car!! i have an engine and the car is wrecked, so i am looking for a new body with no engine so i can swap it in!

pretty much what you are asking for then would bea complete car except for the motor jsut lying around the unkyard waiting for a buyer.

Ya dont have to be sarcastic ya kno. I am lookin to see if anyone has a car they are willing to sell maybe, like there is someone where with a 92 with a broken engine for 2000. It happens.

perhaps u could call up ins. companies and ask them about purchasing totalled out vehicles?

By that I mean look for Preludes that were stolen and stripped out. But keep in mind ur MORE THAN LIKELY going to need more than the engine

i.e. interior, body panels, wheels, other enging parts, etc....

Come to think of it u might be better off looking for a Lude w/a blown motor!

the 30k thing is their version of emmisions control. u can check a place where they get the stolen cars and stuff, where the engines been beat to **** in a police chase. u can usualy find some cool stuff at these places.

I would look for a 4th gen lude or 5th gen accord with high miles and buy it cheap. A totaled car is totaled for a reason, you don't want to deal with it.
