I can almost guarantee that test was done with an open hood. The intake was therefore sucking in cool, outside air instead of hot internal engine bay air.

In the real world, don't be surprised if it loses power.

I agree...didn't someone say that streetracing.org is a big sponsor of Weapon-R? That would make even more sense as to how they got those numbers.

i don't think there a big supporter of Weapon-R, otherwise they probably wouldn't let that review of Weapon-R's coil overs stay in there(two people said they sucked ass). but as far as that intake goes, whats up with that diffuser? anyone know the physics behind it, weapon-r is the only company i've ever seen that does that, makes me wonder.

They're not the only company. Anyone remember the "Tornado" or whatever it was called. 25% more hp, better gas mileage, etc., etc. It's supposed to increase swirl and turbulence in the intake. I guess they think that this swirl will reach the intake chamber and promote a more even combustion. It's basically a joke as all of the swirl effect is damped out by the time it reaches the cylinder.

I have the carbon fiber one BEFORE it has reached to Weapon R. I had the guy custom make me one before he sold the design to Weapon R. Anyways, the intake isn't full carbon fiber. The inside is made of aluminum wrapped with carbon fiber and then epoxed. In other words... you're only benefiting a little bit from the full aluminum intakes.
As for why Weapon R intakes are known to be garbage, its in the filter. Their filter sucks crap.

They didn't have it 8 years ago and they don't have it now.

Just so you don't get your hopes up you barely make any power, maybe 1-2 hp at max.

Hi
Weapon-R Dragon Air Intake Systems come with 6061 Aluminum components TIG welded and are CNC Mandrel bent for peak performances of maximum horse power and best torque gains. Each of Weapon-R Dragon are fine tuned to assure perfect attachments and fittings, precise measures for the tube length, diameter and bent radius, maximum air intake capacity and unobstructed air flow with maximum speed. The air filter is protected perfectly with the dense and high quality Poly Urethane Foam. Weapon-R improves the air flow more than 80%. It assures better dirt filtering with the foam filter than the cotton filters traditionally used. The filter of Weapon-R Dragon air intake is designed in CAD (Computer Aided Design) and has a flow benched tested velocity stack. The system offers high performances with the increased airflow.
