Venting: "Rim-Rong" Put your OEM stock rims on your car CORRECTLY!!

I just have to rib some of these folks about thier rims...
I'm not even sure if those who are guilty of this even realize it.

The "wave-style" stock 5 spoke rims-
There is a reason they sell the stock rims as "left rim" and "right rim"... they go on either the LEFT or the RIGHT of your car!

It really erks me when I see a prelude with the rims on the wrong side...
even MORE so when there is a right AND a left on the same side... couldn't you tell that something looked wrong? (Seasame Street skit... "One of these kids is doing thier own thing...")
It has pretty much been the same design since, what... 1988?
I keep seeing some BEAUTIFUL cars on here with the rims mounted wrong.

The wave crest points toward the REAR of your car when looking at the top of the rim... in case you didn't know. LOL

regardless of 'correcting' people i do appreciate how there are two sides to our rims. i've seen many similar style rims on cars with only one side. that is, the crest will point aft on one side and forward on the other because it is basically 4 rims of the same design. i'm glad honda made them directional on both sides, either pointing forward or aft.

i've seen some people put the front one pointing forward and the other pointing aft on the same side, perhaps intentionally. it doesn't look bad. when i installed my springs, i was playing with the idea of having them point forward, kinda looks like the claws of a dragon or something. then, i thought that maybe honda had them pointing aft for a reason. i know nissan claimed that my old 300zx's rims were designed to flow air to the brakes. then, there's the whole uni-directional tires issue.

form or function, to each their own, i guess.

I guess some people are blind and can't see the R and the L stamped on the rim.

LOL
That IS my lude, but if you read my profile or any other of my threads, you'll see that I am trying to put this car back to stock after the kids that had it before me hacked it up.

Unfortunately, the stupid loud exhaust and "ricer" lights are sorta growin' on me the longer they are on my car! I already replaced the windshield, the ball joints, sway bar links, brake rotors and pads, and put on 4 new tires... Took the "carbon fiber" stickers off the blinker lights and fog lights (why they covered them with this crap is beyond me) I've got the stock exhaust on (new cat, O2 sensor, intermediate pipe, and muffler)... just waiting for the new muffler via FedEx and it should pass inspection again.

Just picked up a new hood to replace the mangled mess that is on there at the moment. Previous guy didn't latch it, and it caught wind and bent in half after it smashed the windshield... big mess.

Previous guy broke 2 of the bolts for the distributor cap (common), so I have to drill that out tomorrow and do a tune up and hopefully it will be ready to be a daily driver again.

Maybe it is just me, but I just think it looks very amature when the rims aren't mounted the way they came from the factory... "just sayin"

BUT...
To each their own!
I don't like EVERY mod that folks do to their cars, but that's what makes each of our cars unique

When I had my 1991 prelude SI, I was told by the honda dealer that my rims were on wrong and that they were designed to go in the stock direction to help cool the rotors. (just as you said, above, about the Nissan) I don't know just how much of a difference it makes, but that is what I was told, and that is exactly what I have done ever since.

IMO it just doesn't look right when they aren't installed correctly.
