True LED Tail lights made by me, but i need some help from PO.com

As you can see i have a spare stock set of tails pulled apart already. But there is a problem.....I need a lot of LEDs, because i am going to make the tail just like the 2005 CTS's where the whole fixture is full of LEDs. So i am calling on the PO.com members to help out with this project. How can you help? Well i need some donations and this is what is in it for you:

Donation A:
Donate any amount and I can either: 1. Take that amount off of your LED tail lights I make for you + i'll throw in free shipping or 2. I can pay you back.

Donation B:
Purchase the prototype. The catch with this is i am not sure what it will cost, BUT i will make them for AT COST. In other words i will make them for you for free all you pay for is supplies and not my time. This is like a multiple donation option cause you might have to donate multiple times. I will only make one 4th gen and one 5th gen (if someone supplies tails) Minimum $40 donation to start.

Donation C:
Donate any amount and get a special thanks and a sticker or something from my website.

Ok here are the details. There are going to be a lot of LEDs i mean the brake lights, turn signals and backup lights are going to be all LEDs. If you are afraid to splice your factory harness to make this work, the plug and play one is an extra $60 till i can find cheaper ones (the white piece the bulbs plug into needs to be mutilated). Turn signals are white, unless you want them amber. Later on i am going to make conversions for sidemarkers and front turn signals and high-mount 3rd brake lights for those without LED spoilers.

5th gens, i currently do not have a set of tail lights, but if someone would like to donate a pair of stock tails, i will make LED tails for you too. All i can find is Altezzas on eBay so, yea maybe someone will donate their old Altezzas to me and i can send them to someone to use while i make the LEDs, anyways.

I am first going to make a demo prototype for all of PO.com to see and check out, and then if anyone would like some made for their car I will take orders and start making them. But first i need to make the prototype.

If you can help out and would like to donate, please send all donations to PayPal: mwanke@comcast.net or PM me for my physical address.
In either method please choose the donation option and suboption (like donation A-1), your name on PO.com and e-mail address and amount you donated.

Thanks for your help

I think you may run afoul of the sponsor policy, and this mod isn't my cup of tea.
Hopefully you are allowed to keep this up till you start making actual product.
Then if you start selling them, your ass better donate!

Hmm... seems like a good idea to try to make some taillamps. But seriously, good luck at finding some "donations."

If you're going to take in-part of a project, you kinda need to use your funds at it and if you're looking into making some profits, that's where you need to supply your own capital and try to sell them as you make them.

But good luck with the project, seriously, LED are not that expensive, it may just be the wiring that might be tricky if you want to keep it plug and play.

Well i wasn't really going to try and profit, maybe just a few dollars for my time. i was going to make them for the group. and true LEDs are not expensive, well at least the red ones, but where cost comes into play is the sheer number of LEDs i need. Cause this isn't just the semi-truck conversion or the one where there is a small red bar at the bottom. This is going to be like the cadilliac's tails.

~$50 for the all red model and trade for your stock lights when finished.

you don't need that many LEDs... 5/8" spacing is prob plenty if you use a diffuser..

I don't think the cadillac's use that many LED's though....It's probably 30-40 at most. The reason they look like they have a million LED's in them is because of the diffuser. It's made in a way to separate the light evenly throughout the lens to make it seem like just one whole piece. I could be wrong be (prolly am).

Well you do have to take in account that the LED do not project a lot of light, so i was going to offset that with more LEDs. but i could put the diffuser back in, but i took it out to give it a more showy look with all the LEDs i was going to put in it.

Yeah...I removed the diffuser on my a couple of months ago and it does look really nice....especially at night! I was going to do a LED retrofit but decided not to cuz I didn't have the time to work on it..........I just have regular bulbs in for now.......but I'd difinitely like to see what it looks like. Good luck!

You could always use a luxeon LED. That would take care of you having to use more than a few LED's.
