Top Speed intake ver2

This thread is a followup to this post

As I mentioned before, this intake requires modification to the cruise control to fit (since it is a JDM product). I redid my installation in the comfort of a heated garage and found a lot more room. I also snapped a shot of the inside of the pipe so you guys can see how smooth it is, I know there has been some concern about the airflow dynamics in this kind of intake. For those of you with imagestation, you can check out my album here for full sized pictures and captions.

Finding some extra space for the intake

Inside of the canister (around 5" ID), smooth bend and great welds

Cruise control secured with a little wire, you don't want to let the cable bind up

Overall fitment is pretty good

This intake angles the filter down right into the cold air source where the resonator used to be.

Just a fun shot showing the air path to the throttle body.

I hope you guys like it, I would hate to think that I wasted $25.00! If you are interested in one of these, look for Tsai1996 on ebay. The 4th gen model should fit without the issues that I had on my 5th gen due to a different cruise control layout. As far as I know, I am the only USDM 5th gen with a big chamber intake

Actually I can tell you the more I drive the car the more I keep noticing extra torque and improved throttle response. I would not be surprised to see this intake adding as much torque as the Type S intake, and it pulls in the top end every bit as hard as my previous intake. It just looks so cocky too, and I can't get over how cheap it was.

Combined with a cold air box or bathtub, I'd say this intake would definately outperform a type-s.

I'm really not so sure that a "bathtub" is necessary. I've had a short ram on multiple cars over the course of several years and I frequently check the temperature of the piping by hand, I've never felt anything above ambient temp except up by the throttle body where it is usually only a little warmer. I believe even if the pipe does absorb some heat, there is a high enough volume of air moving through the pipe to avoid heatsoak. Also, the filter location on the Prelude is great – it hovers right above a cold air source that is shielded from heat by the battery.

if you don't have your heart set on the brand AEM this looks like a great deal, and I bet it offers the same performance. Did I mention it is about $200 cheaper (well, you will need a filter)?

Well the V2 is still different from this intake. The V2 supposedly is tuned to use sound waves to fill the cylinders, whereas this is just a big ass intake!

Might have to right click and tell it to "load this image", if you have an imagestation account it should work. I am on campus right now and the images are loading so it should work for you.
