Another old post that I had to comment on... sorry...

I wouldn't suggest using an impact driver that you use with a hammer... run the possiblity of hitting it too hard and breaking your distributor.
An impact drill may work, provided you have the proper sized bit.
I think the biggest problem is that most folks just grab the first phillips head screwdriver they find and try to crank on it. (Just as Ludatic said in his first post, with the "cliff note"

)
I did that this morning, almost stripped it, found the correct size, and it came out without any problem.
