Tip: dont pay for using the Air pump at the gas station.

Today I was about to get change for a dollar to use the ridiculously expensive
( 75 cents) air pump, to inflate my tires at the gas station.

When I was informed that if I just swing my car over to the Diesel gas pumps area they got 4 rows of air pumps for the truckers... free.

Strangely the length of the cords was alot shorter at the trucker area... but it worked none the less with some jockeying of the car to get the back rear passenger.

So just a tip, dont pay to use an air pump, check out the Diesel gas area might find one for free.

( FYI: This was at a Shell Gas station in South Carolina.)

I've heard that in Cali gas stations are mandated by law to provide free air and water. If there's a change box, just ask the cashier and they have to override it/give you change to start it.

Properly inflated tires are a saftey issue, so in California, we require to gas stations to provide air and water for free to customers.
Most just give it to everyone for free. (Some charge $0.25 for non-customers.)

If it keeps just one person from blowing a tire and taking out my car, it is worth whatever it costs me extra at the pump.

i went to mobile the other day and it was free. just have to keep looking here till you find a free one. however the gauge on the mobile pump was very differnt from what my tire pressure gauge read. i guess i'll believe theirs and not mine

Yup... signs at every station to remind you it is free if you are refueling. Most stations just have the pump on a button that the user pushes to start the compressor.

I'd trust your gauge that hasn't been bashed around and mistreated by the general public.
