awesome info the cool thing about tein is they send you a completely new strut usually, not your old ones.. the bad thing... you pay $50 for the spring regardless... you can't trade in your old ones also, I was told that if you didn't change the helper springs with slightly stiffer ones it would cause more spring noise.... hmm... trying to picture that one in my head...

Unfortunately Tein refused to tell me what the maximum spring rate I could use after a revalve is, even after I asked twice.

I don't know of anyone who's gotten brand new struts when they got revalved. As far as I know, the best they did was clean up the old ones.

that's really weird I've seen on 4 diff occasions that they were revalved and new ones were sent
I know they were new b/c on one set the rear sway was knocking the rear and messed up the paint... he got a new one...
the other case, the piston was scratched slightly... it was replaced with a new one... and these are completely new sets...
one guy I knew sent in just his rear to be revalved for 10k springs, he was sent new ones...

ok, I don't know what Teins policy is but damned... they are confusing

You sure they weren't repainted? I wouldn't expect new shocks when you get yours revalved. I know Koni repaints them, and I'd assume Tein is the same way.

yeah seriously. i talked to someone once a while ago who delt with tein and he said they just fix them and paint them untill they are like brand new. so i assume that means if the housing is dented or the piston scratched they would replace the parts as needed

one thing i will say is i was suprised at the spring rates the ha's came with stock. i always assumed it was a lot less then that. looking at those and still wanting it stiffer im scaring myself thinking about a possible 800/800 setup. i hope i dont need to weld plates to the strut towers!

vwong and White98SH both got their Teins rebuilt, you might want to ask them how their experience was.

I'm pulling this thread from the dead. Curious to find out if anyone has had any TEIN rebuilds/overhauls recently, and if so, how did they look when you got them back?
