the intake manifold bracket might get in the way, its been awhile, i lost the original so i made my own and it doesn't get in the way of R&R'n the transaxle. but for you, its not hard to take off, maybe 2-3 minutes of your day.
you can leave the motor hanging with no tranny, dont worry. but if for some reason she does tilt a bit much, just support her with some wood stacks or the like, so as to not cave in the pan.
good luck

i left mine hanging there. im gonna put something under it when i get home today.
i didn't take off the intake manifold bracket. it didnt get in the way. also, i couldn't remove the passenger side drive shave from the hub cuz i can't get the nut loose. i broke the socket coupling of a 4 foot long breaker bar and spent like 10 minutes with an impact wrench trying to take it off.
can someone take a look at the picture of my clutch in my signature and tell me how badly its worn?
Did you unstake the axle nut before trying to remove it? A large enough impact should have no problem removing the nut. I actually didn't even remove mine when I pulled my tranny. I just pulled the steering ball joints off the knuckles, and rotated the knuckle so that the drive shaft was parallel with the long side of the car. That way, I got the drive shafts out of the way without having to remove them from the knuckle. Be careful if you do this. If you pull on the drive shaft too much, the inner and outer CV joints can fall apart.
As for leaving the engine hanging, I wouldn't. Use a jack with a flat piece of wood to support the engine. Put the wood between the jack and the oil pan. You don't have to support all the weight, just jack the engine up to where it would normally be with the mount in place.
yea, i unstaked it. i dont have a ball joint separator so i just undid the lower arm and i was able to get it out far enough to pull the axles out of the tranny and completely remove the passenger side one.
remove that nut while the car is one the ground, i just didn't this like 2 weeks ago, raise the car take the wheel off, pop the center cap off, put the wheel back on lower the car, take the nut off now that the weight of the car is on it. mine came right off when i did that.

actually for my passenger side one i held down the brakes and my dad undid it with an impact wrench, lol.
but yea, the driver's side one is impossible (the car is on the ground now). i broke the socket attachment point on a breaker bar. the metal sorta just twisted off
oh well, my cousin is coming over tonight to help me put the tranny back in the car, lets see how it goes with that axle still on there...
