Starting Projects

well i have taken next week off from work to start some projects on my prelude. First is changing the timing belt and water pump. then i will be doing the tensioner conversion. finally ending up with replacing some pulleys. If all that goes well, i may try to adjust my valves as well, or at least look into it.

today i am going to gather up all the parts that i have scattered around my house, and start reading and studying the helms.

any one have any words of encouragement, caution or advice?

i'll let y'all know how it goes.

Get the crank pully broken loose before you do anything else.

thanks for the info. we had to get a 1" air gun to get the crank puller nut off.

well today i started changing my timing belt, auto tensioner (sp?), water pump and doing some more things to the car. everything was going real smooth. got the auto to manual tensioner swap down without any trouble. the water pump was a complete PITA to take off and a bigger PITA to put back on, although i was getting it down with out to many expletives being used. until... i was snugging down the a water pump bolt... and then... SNAPP!!!! SON OF A .... , MOTHER.... , and anythign else that you can think of to say. so tomorrow i will pull the new water pump off, pray there is enough bolt sticking out to get some vise gripes on. if not then i guess i pulle the engine. f**kin fun. just what i dont want to do.

So today was spent removing the broken bolt. I removed axles, front and rear engine mounts (driver’s side was already removed) and lifter the engine up. There was just enough, and I do mean just barely enough, of the broken bolt to grip with some vise grips. It was a slow process of working the piece out. The rest of the day was spent dropping the engine back into place and re-installing axles. As of right now, I am about where I was Tuesday afternoon, before the bolt snapped.
