So, how much power does the Mugen header and cat-back make? Read on!
I dynoed at ERT in Delaware this morning. I did a baseline bone-stock dyno there in May pulling 162.8HP and 137.5lb.ft peak. The changes from stock that I dynoed today were: Mugen header, Mugen cat-back, and stock airbox with K&N drop-in and resonator removed.
Results? 173.45HP and 141.32lb.ft peak. That's about +10.7HP and +3.8lb.ft at the wheels, which I was pretty happy with for just header and exhaust...
The conditions for the dyno today and the one in May were virtually identical... Same dyno, same temperature (+/-1 deg), same barometric pressure, same humidity, etc.
I'll post the plots soon. Hopfully I'll be able to overlay my stock baseline plots too... So you can get an idea of the mid-range gains.
That's about right. I'm thinking... thinking about mugen now. I guess it'll be a my early Christmas gift for my car hehehe... pretty good excuse to get one. Just curious, I noticed that you're from Philly, where did you get yours from? Also, are there dyno's around there?
P.S. Alfred Dupont was there today, and I met him! They were dynoing the DuPont SpeedVision Touring Cars today after I left. I asked how much power they have at the wheels, and they laughed at me and asked if I work for Turner Motorsports...
Not bad at all, Andrew! I wonder, with CAI and pulleys, how much more am I putting down...

Damn..nice results! So for ur baseline, stock intake and resonator where intact, right? When u removed the resonator for this recent dyno, did u remove everything below the fender hole or leave in the "U" shaped piping and butterfly valve..or what?
sweet....I'm glad I spent the dough. I'm going to dyno with aem cai, pulleys, mugen x 2 and a VAFC and see how much that puts down. Too bad I don't have a baseline, but I figured those should all be pretty close to each other.
Kool-Lude: Yes, for my runs on Wed, I was running with removed intake resonator snorkel and piping and valving. All that was left was the stock airbox with a K&N filter feeding through the stock tubing. On my baseline runs in May, the resonator and all were still on there.
Weenie: I went to European Racing Technologies (ERT) in Willmington, DE. It is $75 for a half-hour on weekdays. The only other DynoJet in the area is in Pottstown somewhere. ERT is owned by DuPont Racing who runs a very competitive BMW team in the Speedvision Touring Car Cup. Like I mentioned before, they tun their race cars on this dyno, so it's got to be pretty accurate... They are a BMW shop, but they are very nice and knowledgable guys.
jtown: With the VAFC tuned properly, I'm thinking you should see at least 180-185whp based on my results. I am hoping to break 180whp next spring with my AEM CAI and some tuning...
jacques: For goodness sake! Will you just take your car to the dyno already?!! You've been talking about going since before we became Preludeonline.com... Oh, and don't event start on me about how I have yet not installed the CAI that has been sitting around my dining room for over 1 year...
