shifting trouble - Honda Prelude Forum

93 manual honda prelude. let out clutch and give gas to warm car up. Then I can put in 2nd gear with difficlty. Can't get it in first. After driving in 2nd all gears start working. No grinding. Transmission fluid good. Started happening after using lower gears in snow. Didn't take rpms above 3-4 when using lower gears.

My car takes a bit to get into 2nd gear when its cold. Might just be your fluid taking a bit of time to warm up.

are u sure fluid levels are up all the way? my car was having a similiar problem, it wouldnt go into first gear until the car warmed up all the way, and upon inspection i found that the fluid level in the clutch resivoir was low. a three dollar bottle if clutch fluid did the trick. ive got a slow leak somewhere but i figure three dollars every couple of months isnt worth my trouble with trying to find such a small leak.
