So I am pretty much fed up with the prelude. It hasn't been a very reliable DD as I would want it to be. Its time to move and get rid of it.
Which do you think is more beneficial? FYI I will part it out as much as possible before I do anything.
1. I can just take whatever I get from it to Carmax, with its condition, I won't get much but any little bit helps. Heck, I might even pickup another civic or something small (read very small and gas efficient).
2. Another alternative which I was thinking was just getting a Kia. Yeah I know, its a Kia, but you have to realize you get an automatic $3k trade in and new Kia's are pretty darn cheap. I wouldn't have to mess with a used car and out of warrenty. I know this is always for well qualified buyers and I'm pretty much one of them.
3. Donate to charity and get the tax writeoff. I don't know exactly how much I would get and if they take cars "in need of repair".
So what do you think?
I would consider selling the car to anyone for a pretty low price just because of the condition and i would bring the situation of hte car aware. But I doubt I find any buyer willing to deal with this.
So any advice?

I do know how your feeling....Everyone around me was buying newer cars...and my car had just got hit, and needs a paint job, and I kept having problems with the clutch pedal. THEN guys around here are putting H22's in there Accords, and Civics...So I said FUDGE IT....bought a 2006 Pontiac GTO last Tuesday.........How many miles is on it, and whats wrong wit it? I say sell it privately, because the charity road is only gonna giove you what like ....$500-$1000 write off.....IF THAT

the tax writeoff will only work if you hit the minimum that the government allots
I'd just sell it unless you want to feel good about giving it to say the childrens cancer fund
The tax write off isn't worth it, neither is donating to charity. You can split the difference, sell privately and donate the proceeds to an efficient charity of your choice.
^^ same ^^
I had a friend a few years ago that donated a very nice 3000gt and it was near perfect, and he got beans on a tax writeup.
I'd do what was posted above me
I know you already know parting it out will get you more $, so why don't you do that? If you don't have time, just allot like 2-3 hours a week just removing things and just pile a collection in your garage or somethin if you're not in a rush to get rid of it
