C Foam

Have you'll guys ever tried this? Your suppost to spray it inside your valve cover then turn on your car and spray it inside your throttle body, while someone revs our engine to 3K. Its suppost to shoot out black s**t or carbon from inside you exhaust, somehow it cleans and renues horsepower.

its called SeaFoam.

ive done it to my car a couple times, a year apart, and it always helps. i take a vacuum line from the throttle body and stick it in the can of seafoam-then start the car for about 2-4seconds and immediately shut it off. a lot of times the car will die instead-dont worry its ok. let it set for 10-30 minutes and then start it back up. dont forget to put the vacuum line back on.

rev it a little a few times- it should smoke like a ***** if youve got a lotta miles. the more smoke, the more **** its cleaning out of your engine.

i got improved quarter mile times and the car is just a lot more responsive.

once youve revved it several times and let it idle for a while, take it out around town and tear the **** outta it. pull some wot runs and all that. it will stop smoking once all the seafoam has burnt out.

I've heard of one car that actually got screwed up from this stuff. He was over on OT.com.

Personally, I don't trust the stuff.

Not only that, I remember reading a thread on here about if you have a high mileage engine, then using the SeaFoam to break down the caked on stuff can actually be bad for your engine. Supposedly the caked on stuff (sorry can't remember correct term) raises your compression and protects the lining of your cylinders. To remove it would increase the risk of exposing possible hairline cracks or something else that could go wrong.

asking a guy at work (one of the truck mechanics) about putting diesel oil in my minivan, whether it would hurt it or not... he said this, not unless the motor is in bad shape...

If you got a motor thats held together with carbon deposits and you go clean out all the carbon then you are gonna find a lot of problems... not that the product itself hurt the motor, rather it just removed the mask from the present damage...

i used some in my miata with 175k on it
and it did help with some smoothness and helped with a better idle.....
drives much better now
i will use it in my prelude when i have time
its about 6 a bottle and can treat about 3 cars
its only dangerous to the motor if you put too much in there at a time

My question is, what is it going to do to your o2 sensors and cat. I would be afraid of fouling them badly, especially since I just replaced my o2 sensors.

I just looked at their website. Why would you need to put it in the IM if you can just put it in the fuel? The only difference is in the concentration. Would this stuff work any better than just pouring regular fuel injector cleaner in the IM?

I used this stuff once and I would use it again.

I bought it from NAPA and put about 3/4 of the bottle in the IM through a vacuum line and the last 1/4 I put into the fuel tank.

My car smoked for a good half hour after starting it up. I felt soooo ghetto driving it around town and on the highway trying to get it to stop.

HAHAHA, you are going to smoke like CRAZY for 20 minutes! I just used the line from the intake. It didn't have a clamp on it so it was the easiest to use and also the furthest back so hopefully the Seafoam will me more evenly dispersed.

i think im gonna give this stuff a shot, it says their distributors on their website which seems very limited, so im gonna try and find one of them locally. i have the same concern as fmshaw1971; what about my o2 sensor and cat?

I did it yesterday. I put half of it in my gas tank and the other half was sucked in through the PCV valve. Well, yeah I smoked like a motherfuker for like 10-15 minutes. I ran a lot of WOT runs. Well I have to say that that sh1t really works. My car used to hesitate when it was under 3K but not its crazy fast, a lot more responsive, and the engine is a lot quiter too. I guess seafoam did the job . I'm gonna start applying it evertime i do an oil change.

I have a hesitation, but I don't want to try it... sounds like it could go either really good, or really bad. Plus my engine's got 143k miles on it.

I went to pepboys and they didnt have it so I went to NAPA and it was like $6. Here's how I see it, if you've kept your car in good condition since you've had it and you've cared for the engine then SeaFoam is would be like putting Drano in your drain, it only cleans it. That cant be bad.

You don't want to use this everytime you do an oil change because of fouling your O2 or messing up the cat.

I would recommend that you do it every 25K miles. It's not necessary to clean the carbon every 3000 miles - that is overkill and may have long term affects.
