any laquer or oil based paint stripper would do. Also use lacquer thinner after you strip the paint.

as far as applying new paint, this stuff right here is bulletproof. They make it in wide range of colors.

Dan again! Thats whats up Dan! So basically stripper and thinner and then those dupli high heat? Alrightt!

BTW dan, any knowledge on a H23 Blue top Swap for a 5th gen. Ive tried searching and there was a good thread on that but it doesnt show the information anymore.

Basically i wanted to know what parts i need to swap from the h22 to the h23 and what do i need to pass smog?

see what the surface looks like after you strip the paint. You might have to sand it a little bit if the surface is very smooth, you know just to give it some tooth. The high heat ceramic paint I showed you doesnt really need a primer, but it wouldn't hurt to prime it very thin coat of spray BIN primer or a 123 Primer. Zinsser makes them. make sure you get the spray kind.

As far as engine swaps go and all that under the hood stuff, I am not really the right person to be talking to. There are a bunch of great people on this forum that will be able to help you with any questions you have regarding this. Just create threads and ask yer questions mate!

sure it's not anodized? if it is, then you can just wet sand and repaint. i'm pretty sure most intake arms are aluminum anodized...

polishing is nice but i've found that you'd have to repolish it every so often and after a while it becomes a PITA.

The H23V swap is pretty straight forward. From the H22 you use:wiring, sensors(incl. CYP sensor on crank gear and knock sensor), exhaust manifold, distributor, intake manifold-throttle body, and all of the timing gears and timing belt.

You can use the H23V throttle body if it is in fact bigger.

I have done the swap and if you have any questions, feel free to ask. I might have missed something.
