removing coolant line from fitv... coolant keeps on coming out from hose

my idle fluxation has been narrowed down to my fitv due to the "finger over the port in the tb" test.

I couldnt quite get the hose off that fits directly on to the fitv, so i moved on up the hose and just disconnected another tube that connected to it. I understand that coolant is supposed to leak out, but how much exactly? right now i keep letting the coolant leak out from the hose and it keeps on coming... cup after cup... have to keep refilling the radiator.

(this is right after i ran the "finger" test, so this means i had the car started momentarily beforehand. ) ... the car is still cold though.

anyone?

Did when you unhook one hose you have to take the other one off too and make a loop to the coolant housing. Did you read the FAQ on this? i think you missed a few steps

yes, are you talking about the tb and fitv coolant block plate thingy in the general faq?

i read that part about the looping, but i didnt quite understand where i was rerouting the hoses too... i just simply want to take the tb off so i can tighten down my fitv.

so there are 2 hoses hooked onto the fitv, where am i supposed to route them too?

try hitting it with a rubber mallet, they can get stuck on there after a few years...

Yeah, if you just disconnect the coolant hose & run the engine, it'll all pour out - make sure it's routed back in a circle like in the FAQ.

For getting the TB off, sounds like it's just the gasket sticking. As long as you've got all the sensors & vacuum tubes unhooked along with the 2 nuts & 2 bolts, it'll come free w/ a couple smacks. Might be a good idea to have a new TB gasket on hand, though . . . . Most of the time you can reuse it, but if it's stuck it could tear when you break it free.
