Pulled Valve Cover, Lots of Gunk and Metal Shavings

Few months ago my car started making some weird noises. Sounded like it needed a valve adjustment. But then the sound grew from a tapping into a clanking type sound, but in the same pattern as if it were the valves tapping.

I was driving down the freeway one day and all of a sudden the car overheated. I pulled off the freeway and there was steam all over the engine bay and some coolant was spilled (don't know from where)

Anyway, now after 3 months I finally got a chance to open it up and see what it could've been. I pulled off the valve cover and cams and rocker arms.

There was a lot of gunk in there and there was a lot of small silver metal shavings.

What causes this problem? I don't have any time to deal with this so I'm just thinking of of putting the car down. I just wanted to see what my options are and what caused this problem

Car Info:

1993 Honda Prelude Si Vtec with JDM H22 longblock
Injen Intake
AEM Pullies

appreciate the help!

Pull the oil pan, and check for metallic parts. Take a sample of your oil and send it in for a UOA.
