Yes, they're BY FAR better than the DC sports garbage. For the DC sports price (it's like $300 new?) you might as well extrude hone your stock manifold.

Before I even opened the thread I knew that that was going to be the response!
Why all the negative feelings against DC Sports? I've got DC Sports header and it hasn't hurt my car at all. The only problems I've had with it is dents on the bottom of the downpipe (cuz I'm lowered) and the bracket that supports it to the block broke off.....and it's wierd too because it was actually the stock bracket that broke off....not the one welded onto the header.

I know I'm gonna sound incredibly stupid to some people but......what's the collector? I've heard people talk about it before but I'm not sure what it is. Thanx!

I believe its the piece of the header that connects to the exhaust pipe before the cat... or it may be that piece itself.

From www.howstuffworks.com:

Quote:
The idea behind an exhaust header is to eliminate the manifold's back pressure. Instead of a common manifold that all of the cylinders share, each cylinder gets its own exhaust pipe. These pipes come together in a larger pipe called the collector. The individual pipes are cut and bent so that each one is the same length as the others. By making them the same length, it guarantees that each cylinder's exhaust gases arrive in the collector spaced out equally so there is no back pressure generated by the cylinders sharing the collector.

Hope this helps.

Sorry to whore your thread theaneet but......what size collector does the DC header come with? I was under the impression that it was 2.5".

BTW....helped alot silverbullit...thanx!

theaneet: There's some good info here to help yo make your choice. Kinda got me thinking as well. I've got a Kamikaze 4-1 header which has a 2.5" collector in my garage just collecting dust.......think I might swap the DC out for it.....just to see how it feels.

Some people go with DC Sports because its fairly inexpensive and easy to obtain. I have not seen any dyno's saying its bad or good, but most people will flame the DC Sports even though theres no proof either way.

Recently, the SMSP and Hytech headers have been released. Both are full 2.5" headers; both are custom-made and designed. There are dyno's for the SMSP recently; do a search for those. I have not seen numbers for the Hytech yet. Another alternative would be the Mugen header, but all three mentioned above are $$$. These are what I would reccomend for a full 2.5" exhaust system, but make sure you have all the bolt-ons and something to tune it with (V-AFC, Hondata, etc.). Another option is to purchase a 4G GReddy and modify it to fit the 5G.

I dunno about that. The only time I've seen people use the Kamikaze 4-1 header is with the JRSC. I think the one time someone used it they had a loss in power, though I have nothing to back that up with. I guess you could swap them out and see how the ol' butt dyno feels.
