Yeah $400 to pay so you dont have to take your car to the ref is *** especialy when the cops had no reason to pull you over.

^^ cops can find a reason to pull you over. They only send you to the ref when they require a hood pop and find potentially violating equipment. The ref is cheap if you have nothing wrong and you have nothing to worry about if you dont do illegal SMOG mods.
If you dont have the money to take care of a ref visit, SMOG fix or to put everything back to stock for your smog visit then you probably shouldnt be modding your car because I guarentee its your daily driver and you cant afford to be without it.

Yeah cops can find a reason to pull you over and if you drive a honda or acura a hood pop is pretty much manditory. I had no choice I got pulled from my car for being on the wront street at the wrong time and the officer went ahead and looked at my motor with out my consent and even gave sited me for so insurance cause he did not want to look through my glove box for the insurance. I dont know about you^^^ but my car does not just have intake header and exhaust so its not so easy to just put the stock parts back on and take it to the ref. To top it off, I was called a racer by the cop because I had racing seats and tacometer guages(his exact words) ....bahhhhhhhhhh

^^ I know. The import cars have much worse reputations that the domestic but thats the way it is. A cop can ask you to pop your hood if he/she has reasonable cause and reasonable cause can be manufactured.
If you dont pop your hood then you have "some thing to hide" so you are stuck either way.

Yeah your screwed either way what can you do. But my car is no place near stock so I cant just swap things over and take it to the ref that easy. Thats why im selling the street car and just consentrating on the race car less to worry about. If I ever built another street car I know I would leave it stock looking and put nothing on it to atract attention.
