I was assured that its normal in preludes. is it not? i thought consistency was what is important and not the actual numbers.
Generally, that's true. However H22s are supposed to be around 190 psi. 120 means the test was done improperly, all the valves are bent (possible I suppose), or the timing belt is off. I would be a little uncomfortable with it if I were buying.

true. mine was almost 200psi when i saw 120 i was like
Yeah, i did some research today and most owners are claiming in the high 100s low 200s. I think my mechanic did the test wrong. im getting it redone at the honda dealership tomorrow
Sorry i got in a speed boat accident right before the weekend (got my left foot chopped up pretty good by the propeller) so i haven't had time to get it looked at, but it should happen thursday. I can't really drive a manual tranny though until i finish healing.
Sorry i posted it in a members only area, heres a copy paste (posted on Fri 6/13/8):
I have read a few stories on 3si that could have ended badly but are funny to laugh at now because nothing too serious happened, ie guy trapped under hood of car. Thought id post what happened to me yesterday at the lake.
So one of my best friends is getting married on Saturday and asked me to be a grooms man for her fiance. Yesterday, the groom, a bunch of his friends and I drove 2 hours to elephant butte (big man-made lake near ABQ). When we arrived some of guys went to get a platoon boat to dock onto our house boat that we rented. Me and the groom drove to the other side of the lake to grab the speed boat that we had rented with skis, a wake board, and an inner tube.
We drove the speed boat (1st time for me, and i think a want one now) across to the other side of the lake to where our house boat was. After we docked with the house boat, we picked up two other guys and a couple of girls that were with us. The best man asked if he could to try driving. So the five of us headed out to explore the lake.
After driving for about 10 mins, i (who was currently in the middle) decided to move to the front section and check out the ride from the front of the boat. As i was there i tried to do the titanic arms spread while wind hitting you from the front move. After i stopped one of the girls wanted me to do it again so she could take a picture. I agreed and did the same pose. Well, while i was doing the pose, the driver (best man) decided to ease up on the throttle since we were going about 45 mph at the time. As he eased up, the boat lurched as if he hit the breaks and i lost my balance and fell forward.
It was pretty scary, but luckily for me, as soon as he saw me lose balance, he threw the boat into neutral and took the key out. As the boat ran over me, my legs hit the front of boat and have big bruises on both legs. Because i was wearing a life jacket i was forced up, so i turned my body upside down to protect my head. As i finished getting smacked around the boat my left foot and the propeller decided to have a little fight. My foot did not win.
After i surface again with my foot and legs in pain, the other guys helped me back onto the boat, took me to the marina, and got me picked up by an ambulance. Altogether i needed about 12 stitches and can't bear any weight on my left foot because of the pain and one of my tendons got sliced.
Overall it was very scary but it could have been so much worse. Im not going to have any permanent damage accept some scars. Im thankful its not too bad,and i get lots of vicodan now, and get to go down the aisle in a wheel chair. Also i won't be able to drive a standard for some time either. I still want to buy a boat now, but i think ill stay away from the front for quite some time. Thanks for listening.
so whats the deal with prelude owners and WRX's? the guy who i bought my first prelude from (98 base model) bought a brand new wrx. the guy whos prelude im going to be buying soon (97 SH) just bought a wrx, then i saw this thread, read this thread and was like... Woah! lol
is there some reason prelude owners buy/like WRX's?
Stealthdriver, are you from El Paso or Albequerque? I haven't personally been to Elephant Butte (people call it butt, haha) but I had friends that would always invite me to go on the weekends to boat or camp. It's like the only lake for hundreds of miles in any direction that you can boat at!
And you musta had a ***** of a time getting to a hospital being out there!

Lol! this is hilarious! I haven't been on this site in about a year, just got a random email today saying i had replies.
I ended up buying the prelude and love it! Ive driven it with absolutely no problems for the past year. I almost traded it in a month ago for a e46 m3, but i just cant seem to let it go. Im so glad i bought this car rather than the wrx. Ive sold both my 3000GT and Stealth R/T Turbo and am planning on buying a Porsche 996TT within the next few weeks. Will always keep the prelude as my DD though.
Anyway in reply to prepreludesh, im from the ABQ and had my boat accident last year at elephant butte and there is a ghetto hospital 15 mins away in TorC, heh what a crazy summer.
Having owned a WRX and having been well versed in that community for a few years, I can tell you that without a doubt the WRX would be a better choice. Gas milage is actually about the same. The aftermarket for the WRX is literally 10x better than the Prelude. They make thousands of upgrades for it, if you would ever choose to do so. The tranny on the 02/03 was a little meh compared to 04+ (I had an 05), but as long as you are gentle, it's OK. The problems people were having were when they upgraded power (which is very easy to do by changing the downpipe and flashing the ECU with a Stage 2 tune - suddenly you unlocked 20+hp easy) and were thrashing their syncros etc
But seeing as I just realized how ancient this thread is, I'm sure nothing I am saying matters lol
I'm just a little bitter about how much of a PITA my current Prelude is and if I could turn back the clock I would have never given my WRX up for anything in the world.
