Prelude backfiring!

My 4G started backfiring well over a year ago, but it would only happen at 1 - 2k rpms when the engine was cold and outside temps were in the 50s. About a month ago, it started hesitating between 2 - 3k and backfiring through the intake. The backfiring is pretty damn loud too. I changed out the distributor today because the bearings on the old one were on the way out and its still doing it, so its not that. I haven't checked the plug wires or disconnected my MSD ignition and SS coil. Plugs were changed with stock NGKs about 10k miles ago, maybe less.

I'm going to check for any codes now. Oh, my IAC valve has been unplugged for over a year and a half now, otherwise it would idle at 2k It's been working relatively fine with it disconnected and I never had any real problems (other than a constant CEL).

Any suggestions? I got a 250 mile road trip coming up in a week and a half and I'd like to get this fixed if possible

EDIT: H23 w/ almost 169k miles. It bogs down a bit sometimes too

How about this... one or two of the intake valves are staying slightly open during the combustion stroke causing some of the gases to ignite in the intake... yea?

The last valve adjustment was at 115k... So its more than 30k overdue

Car still hestitating, misfiring, whatever...

Sometimes I'll have to floor it and it will just stay at, lets say, 4k rpm for a few seconds then just keep accelerating normally. Its pretty dangerous if I ever have to get out of the way of a car quickly and my car doesn't move
