Here is my first test. If anyone else has comments, they are welcomed.
Sodium is EXTREMELY high but they say that it is an addative Mobil uses. Has anyone else used Mobil Clean 7500 Synthetic Blend, and noticed high sodium. Also, my antifreeze levels are always fine and I have never had to add any.

Got my third analysis back. Lead is still high, which is pissing me off. I'm a little worried I'm going to have that dreadful *knock* noise coming from a spun bearing one of these days.
I just put one in the previous oil change! Thought it might help but I guess not. I'm going to give it 3-4k this time before I change it and then I might try some german castrol synthetic if I can find it. Supposed to be a little thicker.

Hey... they aren't as bad as some others here. Not great either. The engine is probably on it's way to a spun bearing eventually (usual H23 cause of death) but I think it's a long way off. This engine only has about 70,000 miles on it (rebuilt engine). I just want it to get me through one more year or so.
Anyone still doing this? I am thinking of sending them a cold sample from a Euro R motor I just got. Not sure if that is the best idea. Might wait until it is in the Lude and running.

Hey all I am new to the site... But this is what I do for a living. (Spectro Oil Analysis) and while it really matters in larger applications like Aircraft jet engines. w/o being able to set up trends and a propper baseline of the oil u use, along with the engine standards from honda to let you know which elements mean which parts of the engine are wearing abnormally their is no use.
^^^ I fail to see how seeing a trend on the same specific motor wouldn't have any use. I watched just about every metal increase in my SH's motor letting me know I was getting closer and closer to swap time. Why would you say that there's no use to monitoring your engines oil? Also what makes you think or say that Blackstone isnt baselining most if not all common oils? I mean that's their business right, seems silly to think they dont sample for baselines.
I said/meant, w/o a trend it woould be pointless. wear metal found in engine oil can be fine. I am currently working on F-15C fighter jets and just to throw some hypothetical #'s out their an engine could have an iron reading of 1 and the same type of engine out of a different jet/car with the same type of oil could have an iron reading of 48. both engine could be perfectly fine; now say that 1st engine w/ a reading of 1 went from having a 1 to having a 9 in the course of 2 flying hours or, 3000-5000 miles it could be in some major trouble something on that engine is wearing abnormaly and is about to go bad. while still it only has a reading of 9 and engine #2 is still up at 48. so say u sent in ur oil sample and never got that reading of 1. When u sent it in it read 9. even though ur engine that ran 9 in probably in alot worse shape than the guy who had a reading of 48 all that u have to go by is that one reading and only looking at that 1 reading the engine with a 48 is gonna look alot worse.
Hard to convey through typing what I am getting across..basiclly what i am saying is you are only getting a snapshot of how ur engine is doing w/o being able to build up that trend its really pointless, and the way it sounded in this thread these guys r wanting to send their oil in to see where their car is. when in reality it would take many tests to find out whats going on. hope that helps clear it up.
I currently test the oil in my 99 prelude every 1000 miles.
So if Blackstone has a baseline for ppm of iron for H22 Honda motors your saying it doesnt matter because if one has 1000ppm and the other is 2ppm its just dependent on the motor? How about if the new owner to a car with a 100k sends it in and it comes back with extremely high amounts of fuel or anti freeze contamination was it then pointless too since you dont know where it was at from the previous owner? I'd say no since its obvious those contaminants shouldn't be there.
BTW just what are you doing to your car that you need to verify the oil quality every 1000 miles?
