Polymer vs Powder coating?

I have been looking around for a place to get my calipers powder coated and ran accross this place , http://www.goldlinebrakes.com/PolymerCoating.htm, in Seattle. Had never heard of polymer coating, but after calling and talking to him was very impressed not only with him but also the polymer coating. Does anybody have any experience or knowledge of polymer coating?
Also for reference, he told me it would be $108 per caliper. That is sending in your old caliper, having it cleaned, polymer coated, both the caliper and bracket, rebiuilt, and sent back to you.

why not just paint it yourself? Its a lot cheaper, and ive seen plenty of pretty good looking ones on this website.

looks great but I don't think its worth it for a Prelude. If you take the time to clean, sand and paint them carefully, they'll look good for several years or longer. The only cost is sandpaper/steel wool and a $16 paint kit from Autozone. Maybe if I was modding a higher-end car (that didn't already come with Brembos) or restoring a rare car I'd be willing to spend $400+ on caliper coating.

I don't think our OEM rotors look good painted, or not painted. The texture and roundness of these sand cast parts just looks cheap, whatever the color. Maybe the thicker powder coating will smooth the surface.

If it was just the coating I would totally agree. The $108 is you sending in your calipers having them cleaned, disassembled, rebuilt, and then coated. Just to paint them I would agree chould be pretty cheap. But if I was going to have all of that done by someone else, than $108 is very reasonable.

If you look around, to have all that done with powder coating is about $200 for the front set of calipers, so price seems comparable.

As for m610, I assume you meant caliper, not rotor right? It might not look perfect, agreed, but it probably looks better than the 8 year old rusted units behind my Advan wheels.

Sorry, yes, I meant caliper.

I have tought of painting mine black not to make them pretty but to hide the rust.

i just powdercoated all my calipers using a home powdercoating kit and old toaster oven. cleaning the calipers is a *****, i ended up using a mild acid to strip all the gunk off, then preheated the parts for 20 mins @ 450deg to outgas, and did 2 coats of black cured 20 mins @ 400 with 1 hour cooling time in between.

not sure about polymer coating but considering the amount of work involved 108 is not bad at all.

the only clean caliper on my car - you can tell the 2 coats smoothed out the surface
