please help

i have a 92 prelude automatic with 2.3 vtec
the problem is that my tach is bouncing all over the place and when it does this my timing goes all to hell. it is not steady though sometimes its fine
I have had the car at a honda dealership for a week and ive paid them over a thousand dollars only for them to tell me they cant figure it out
computer analysis is giving only a code 2 which doesnt exist
ive tried changing the ecu and the distributor hasnt helped
honda checked every eletrical connection and sensor they are fine
ive also replaced the timing belt at honda over a month ago and it was fine
then this just started happening one day out on the highway and im stumped please help if u can and thanks I can be reached at holacoste1@hotmail.com

Sorry, I don't have any answers for you.

But fyi, there is no such thing as a 2.3 vtec. If your car has a 2.3 it's an Si w/ an H23. Not a VTEC model.

EGR ports and valve, TP sensor, MAP sensor, injectors, fuel pressure regulator. Just a few things to check.

Why did it cost $1,000 for something they didn't fix?

your answer is located inside your distributor. It is called the ignitor. It has an RPM wire that hooks up to it. Pull your plugs, pull off the cap and rotor and look for a match book sized piece. Go buy a new one and put it back in and you are good to go.

Problem solved.

its fixed

turns out it was the top dead center sensor and i got my money back from honda after i explained that an apprentice mechanic fixed it in less than 2 hours at a cost of 200 dollars thanks everyone for your help ya all ride safe
