I've painted my SH wheels with spray can and they've held up pretty nicely for over a year now. The painting process is easy and the basically the same as painting any bodywork (there's a FAQ topic about painting sideskirts that goes into the details of sanding, primer, base coat, clear coat, drying time, etc). Just make sure you strip off any old paint first (using aircraft paint stripper/steel wool/sandpaper) and get down to bare metal before you start painting.

I painted my rims a couple times. I just sanded it with 40, 80, and 120 grit sandpaper. Then I placed playing cards inbetween the rims and the tires so that I wouldn't have to take off the tires. Then just spray around the rims evenly and be sure not to ever hold the can still while you're spraying to keep it all even. You can spray a top coat on it to finish, but I didn't bother. It looked fine without it. Here are some pictures of it. The first time I did it I made them white. Now they're gold. I think they look good.

whoa...just normal household spraypaint? just spraypaint then clear coat? whoa, might think about doing it then since it seem so easy....and it stays on huh? how do you remove the spraypaint if it sticks so well?

-btw, got a SSM 'lude and dont know what color to paint....lol any suggestions? maybe stock?

I used Duplicolor wheel paint, it's a spray paint but it's extra strong and has a beautiful finish. It's easy to do, just make sure the wheels are super clean. Using the clear coat afterwards gives them the extra gloss and makes the finish even more durable. Check my gallery to see pics.
